I used to live in Bathurst and treat that area like my own personal playground.

However, the restrictions placed on those landholders, not only during the racing events but also in terms of what they can do on their land makes th is a downright no from me...at any price.

Not only that...the view is entirely underwhelming.

Hard to argue with the sheep’s eye view! But I still wouldn't live there...all the good things about living at the Mountain are diminished by living with the people who want to use the Mountain however they see fit... whenever they see fit.

A mate of mine lives half way up that timbered ridge in the distance but about further south out of frame...the Mount is but a bump in the middle of a spectacular 180 degree vista.

Pretty much. Many  live in owners abandon their properties to the teams, corporate sponsors or cashed up Airbnb punters during the races...they did well out of it from memory.

To each his own. But I’d take the sheep and the money I’ve saved buying something else  nice nearby and spend it on a nice car to cruise pleasantly and legally around the track at 60 km/h (maximum speed limit) any time I felt like it.
